About the Event
KCL Economics and Finance Society are delighted to announce our first event of 2022-  featuring the founder and Chairman of the multimillion-pound consumer goods company, JML, John Mills. He will be discussing his journey on building JML, as well as sharing his ideas on reviving the UK’s manufacturing industry using economic policy on the 26th of January at 18:00.
Mr Mills’ company exports to over 70 countries and has an annual turnover approaching £100million.  He also has a substantial political presence, such as having served as the Labour councillor in Camden, as well as being the Labour party's biggest private donor to date.
A noted economic thinker, Mr Mills has published a series of books on economics, exchange rate policy, the Eurozone, and manufacturing. In 2020, he launched the Institute for Prosperity, a cross-party think tank that seeks to increase the amount of manufacturing in the UK using economic policy measures. Its Advisory Board members include Rt. Hn. Caroline Flint, Sir Vince Cable, and John Penrose MP. Find out more about Mr Mills here.
