ELECTIONS

 

EFS Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2023

 

This is your chance to join King’s largest economics and finance based society! 

 

It has been another outstanding year for the EFS, surpassing all of last years standards, with notable achievements in the number of tickets purchased for events, marketing reach, setting a flagship event and creation of new positions. It is now time to begin sourcing new prospective committee members for the next academic year! Come and attend our AGM to vote for next year’s committee or apply for a position yourself!

This year's election format involves applying through the KCLSU and members can now apply and vote through the KCLSU website, please follow the steps below:

    1) Nominate yourself via the KCLSU website & fill out EFS Application Form below by 10:00am on Tuesday 21st         of March.

    2) Upload your Manifesto by 10am on Friday 24th of March via the KCLSU website.

    3) Present a 5 min presentation to the committee and member meeting at 18:00 on Wednesday 29th of March.

    4) KCLSU voting will end on 5pm Thursday 30th of March. We encourage everyone to vote after/during the                 committee meeting.

We are giving each candidate the opportunity to present (max. 5 mins) to the committee/members who will be voting at the AGM! The presentation should include why you believe you are fit for the role and things like who you are, any past experience, your vision for the society and what you hope to achieve in the role.

The meeting and presentations will be held on the the 29th of March at 18:00 and anyone running or voting should attend. EFS Members can sign up with the form below to receive the invitation to the meeting with the location.

 

Open positions

 

  1. President (executive committee

    • Main focus on external relationships and oversees internal operations

    • Focus on strategy and development 

    • Represent EFS within KCL (KCLSU, DPE, other societies) and external partnerships

    • Oversees all departments alongside the vice president

    • Leading Meetings

    • Hosting Events

    • Management of the Society 

  2. Vice President (executive committee 

    • Mainly overseeing Mentorship, Marketing and Social Events Departments, as well as Officers

    • Mainly focus on leading internal operations

    • Sorting out any issues and the person to raise any complaints to

    • Assistance in all departments and operations when needed

  3. Secretary & Human Resources Lead (executive committee

    • Administration (Slack groups, organisation google drive, oversees emails)

    • Onboarding new committee members

    • Leading and ensuring integrity in all Recruitment processes

    • Ensuring engagement is met by everyone and dealing with extenuating circumstances

    • Organisational background behind meetings (sending out links, communication/ coordination)

    • Reports on Society statistics (close contact to KCLSU)

  4. Treasurer (executive committee) 

    • Oversees all finances of the society and ensuring operations run smoothly 

    • Close contact with Marketing Department to ensure any supplies are ordered and subscriptions paid 

    • (Monthly) reports

    • In close contact with KCLSU and DPE

    • Managing subscriptions (zoom)

  5. Project Development Officer (senior committee)

    • Working very closely with executive committee and President for direction and collaborating with other other departments, specifically with Events, Marketing and Corporate Relations for implementation

    • Increase the number of unconventional and unique networking opportunities e.g. conferences and summits

    • Manage the operations of future projects by conducting research and create plans that best suit the needs of each project

    • Collaborate with other departments, specifically with Events, Marketing and Corporate Relations

  6. Welfare Officer (senior committee)

    • Improving the wellbeing of members and create connections with the wider KCL community

    • Generate a culture of positive wellbeing, for both committee members and society members, giving a strong importance to mental health

    • Host welfare and wellbeing events, at least one per semester

  7. Head of Mentorship (senior committee)

    • Delegation of the Mentorship division

    • Organisation and Management of the EFS Mentorship Scheme - securing both mentors and mentees and arranging meetings for them.

    • Ensure that selected mentees receive continuous support on their Spring Week applications

    • Build relationships and network with mentors who have been through the application process previously 

    • Host Mentorship events

  8. Head of Corporate Relations (senior committee)

    • Delegation of the CR division 

    • Redesign sponsorship brochure and research different sponsorship avenues

    • Establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders of the society, partners and sponsors

    • Pitching to potential sponsors (Investment Banks, Professional Services Firms etc) to gain funding for the society

    • Collaborating with the Events division to bid for employment related events 

    • Expanding the society’s exposure to different industries with the Marketing and Events division

    • Relationship management with other societies

  9. Head of Marketing (senior committee)

    • Delegation of Marketing Division (largest EFS Division)

    • Managing all platforms

    • Delegating the creation of content

    • In close contact with all other divisions 

    • Has to be very responsive and creative

  10. Head of Events (senior committee)

    • Delegation of Events division

    • Responsibilities of the team include generating ideas for events, researching new potential speakers, contacting speakers and other organisational admin

    • Hosting and organising a combination of career, entrepreneurship and academic events

    • Maintain the standard of hosting an event per teaching week for most of the year

    • Continue & Develop the Investment Conference 

  11. Head of Social Events (senior committee)

    • Delegation of the Social Events division

    • Responsible for the organisation of social events such as the winter ball, doggy destress or an inter-university social

    • Host at least one large 'signature' event, such as a formal ball. ​​

Only EFS paid members are eligible to vote or run for these positions. Everyone can run for a max of 2 roles. You must be a current student at King's College London to apply for any position.
